چکیده

High quality ab initio computations and molecular spectroscopy of small hydrogen-bonded clusters in the vapor phase provide highly accurate data in general agreement with the theory of hydrogen bonds developed in the seventies. Hydrogen bonding is a major force determining energetics and structures of biopolymers. In addition to direct influence through the directionality hydrogen bonds set the stage for the formation of biopolymer structures indirectly since they are the basis of water structure: on the basis of current results hydrophobic interactions are considered equally important or even more relevant than direct hydrogen bonding. A new concept for protein and nucleic acid folding which is based on statistical mechanics allows to study the role of hydrogen bond formation in the nucleation process as well as in later states.

Infrared spectroscopic study of C7 intramolecular hydrogen bonds in peptides.

The ir-spectra in the N-H stretching region of Piv-Pro-NHMe and Boc-Pro-NHMe have been studied in carbon tetrachloride and chloroform solutions over a wide range of concentrations. Based on the concentration dependence of the N-H stretching bands, i t has been shown that the characteristic N-H stretching band due to the C7 intramolecular hydrogen bond is around 3335 cm-'. Intermolecular hydroge...

Competition for hydrogen-bond formation in the helix-coil transition and protein folding.

The problem of the helix-coil transition of biopolymers in explicit solvents, such as water, with the ability for hydrogen bonding with a solvent is addressed analytically using a suitably modified version of the Generalized Model of Polypeptide Chains. Besides the regular helix-coil transition, an additional coil-helix or reentrant transition is also found at lower temperatures. The reentrant ...

Stacking and hydrogen bonding: DNA cooperativity at melting.

By taking into account base-base stacking interactions we improve the Generalized Model of Polypeptide Chain (GMPC). Based on a one-dimensional Potts-like model with many-particle interactions, the GMPC describes the helix-coil transition in both polypeptides and polynucleotides. In the framework of the GMPC we show that correctly introduced nearest-neighbor stacking interactions against the ba...

Inductive Effect of Bioactive Intermolecular Hydrogen Bonding Complex of 1,2,4,5 –Tetrazine and Inorganic Acid by NMR and QTAIM

In this paper, NMR and QTAIM analysis for three substituted of T2SA complex was investigated in the gas and four solvents at DFT level. Intermolecular O–H…N hydrogen bonds between 1,2,4,5-Tetrazine and Sulphurous acids enhance the stability of complex.1,2,4,5-Tetrazine is a highly reactive diene for [4+2] inverse-Diels–Alder cycloaddition processes and an excellent precursor to attain the pyrid...

Stabilization of gamma-turn conformations in peptides by disulfide bridging.

The ideal y-turn conformation in peptides is stabilized by the formation of two intramolecular hydrogen These are between the NH of residue i and the C=O of residue i + 2 (1 3, CJ and the C=O of residue i and the NH of residue i + 2 (3 1, C7).334 While this reverse-turn structural feature has been observed in proteins, '~~ unambiguous characterization of this conformation has yet to be realized...
